Our middle and high school students came together at Marine Park to plant over 700 trees in partnership with NYC Parks and Recreation.
This meaningful day was part of a Brooklyn Amity School National Art Honor Society initiative that blended environmental action with artistic expression. Each student made a personal promise to nature, writing it on a handmade card and attaching it to the tree they planted, transforming the park into a living gallery of commitments.
Voices from Our Students
“I promise to recycle more and help others do the same.”
“I promise to protect animals and their homes.”
“I promise to take care of the Earth, even when it’s hard.”
“This tree will grow, and so will my responsibility.”
Our elementary students were an essential part of this story as well. From school, they wrote their own heartfelt promises, which were later attached to the trees planted by our older students. This simple act connected every age group through a shared sense of care, responsibility, and hope.
From handwritten pledges to hands in the soil, each action mattered. Together, these promises now stand tall as part of the landscape, growing alongside the trees themselves.
Every promise counts. Every tree matters.Together, we are growing a greener and kinder future.
